The bar is thick, over 1/2 inch, making breaking it into pieces difficult. The bar has is a huckleberry flavor, but the chocolate dominates.
It is a lot of bar for the buck: $6.99 for 4.5 ounces. The only indication of who made this bar is a note that says "Made for Gualala Sports & Tackle." There is no indication as to the percentage of cacao in the bar. Here are the ingredients:
Dark Chocolate (sugar, palm kernel oil, hydrogenated palm oil, cocoa (processed with alkali), non fat milk, soy lecithin, artificial flavors), and huckleberry oil (soy bean).
Some questions follow: why does the huckleberry oil have a "(soy bean)" modifier? Why is there non-fat milk in their dark chocolate? Why is sugar and palm oil ahead of cocoa in the ingredients list (listing should be ordered with the larger percentage ingredients first)?
The store has a variety of sports items, gifts, some crafts items and a stand full of huckleberry items, including jam and syrup. It is worth a visit for these items or to buy a Gualala postcard or T-shirt.
